X4 will allow you to take the helm of any ship. From the smallest scouts, various medium-class ships and up to huge aircraft carriers, you will be able to pilot yourself from the helm in the cockpit, as well as from the third person.
When creating the game X4, much attention was paid to fast and easy movement between your ships. You can leave the ship, go down the ramp, walk along the dock of a huge station to another ship parked there and replace the pilot, ordering him to give you the control chair.
The basis of the games of the X Universe has always been the construction of space stations. After receiving a sufficient amount of money from trade or battles, many players want to start influencing the economy of the game, as well as its Universe on a larger scale. In X4, this is possible in a free and creative style. Stations can be created from a variety of modules, be it production modules, residential complexes, docks or any other types of buildings. The new map management system will help you easily build and connect various modules, creating your unique stations.
A large number of ship upgrades are also available. All engines, weapons and many other equipment can be added in the graphical editor, and you will instantly see the update on your ship.
X4 is the first game in the X series that allows any playable races and factions to build and develop their Empires without restrictions; they have the same freedom in building modular stations as the player. Races expand their empires based on supply and demand, which leads to a very dynamic development of the Universe, when any action of the player can lead to a global change in the general world.
Once you have enough ships and NPCs that will work for you as pilots, crew or station managers, the map will be your main assistant in managing them. Ships can be ordered with just one click of the mouse, and with the help of drag-and-drop operations, you can plot their future course.
Visually plan your trade routes, coordinate attacks with the help of your entire fleet, set up a hierarchy between ships or send them to explore deep space.
One of the main attractions of the X series has always been its detailed economy. Goods are produced in hundreds of stations and transported by thousands of ships, which are real NPCs. Through their trade, they create a working economy for the game. It is the basis of our living and breathing universe. But now, in X4, we have taken it even further. For the first time in the X series, all goods that participate in the NPC economy are produced from resources: ships, weapons, ammunition, even stations - absolutely everything comes from a working model of the economic simulation.
Instant and seamless movement between ships and NPCs that take control of your empire will continue at an even higher level. Once you have a fleet, you will be able to research a new technology in your Headquarters - Teleportation. Once you unlock teleportation, you will be able to move from ship to ship much faster and experience all the critical situations that happen to your NPC pilots.
Any order you gave to the ship before will turn into a mission. But as soon as you leave the ship, the NPC pilot will take control for you and continue the mission.
In X4, you can start playing using several game scenarios and different characters, each with their own role, set of established relationships, as well as a ship and technology. No matter what you choose, you will always be free to develop as you want. Focus on space exploration, making money through illegal trade or even theft, commanding huge fleets or becoming the greatest entrepreneur. It's up to you.
